You might say that I began my training as an accent specialist at a very early age as I grew up in a family using three different accents. I only started to learn Standard English when I began school!
I am a native speaker of British English, have a BA in Literature and Drama (Middlesex University, London), an MA in English Lingusitics and Literature and Art History (Freie Universität, Berlin), and a CELTA English teaching certificate. As well as working in the fields of translation, journalism and English teaching, I have had experience in professional acting and have coached actors, professional and amateur, in accents and dialects for over a decade. Among the people that I have successfully coached are Helmut Lohner, Sebastian Stegmann, Almut Zilcher, Anna Altmann, Sven Lehmann, Wachtang Budagaschwili.
What I Offer
I train actors, and other public speakers, wishing to learn an effective English pronunciation and articulation. My main emphasis is on the pronunciation of Standard British English (Received Pronunciation), but I also teach British Regional accents (including Scottish, Welsh and Irish), Global English ( American accents, Australian, Indian, South African,etc), English with a foreign accent and historical English accents. I instruct using phonetics, explanations of the mechanics of speech, and listening and voice exercises. I have a special knowledge of the specific problems of German native speakers in learning to speak with an English accent.
